The Fence

I really am a believer that everything happens for a reason.  Tuesday it poured rain all day so I took Freddie out on his leash all day to go potty so he wouldn't come in covered in mud.  By supper time the rain stopped and the wind picked up to about 90 km per hour.  I took Fred out for a pee and this is what I found.

Part of our fence had blown over.  I instantly had a flashback as this is what happened when our late Basset Barney broke his leg.  You can read about it here. And see him in his cast here.  So thankfully I had been taking Freddie out on a leash instead of just letting him out the door.  Either of the hounds could have gotten hurt or caught a scent and took off.  Really this would only be Fred, he'd be gone in a second.  Gloria....no......she just doesn't go to far from me.

This is what it looked like Wednesday morning as it snowed overnight too. Yes, those are condos they built behind us in what used to be a park!  Hubby was in North Bay for work when this happened so it has had to sit like this until tonight.  Then he will have to go and knock it down and take it apart.
Well, until we get something rigged up for the rest of this winter (if that's what you can call this crazy weather) Freddie has to be tied up to go outside. No more running around enjoying play time in the backyard.  And oh boy, is Freddie ticked!

"This sucks!" "I hate my life!!"
"Oh Fred, stop it."  "It will only be for a short time."

"I don't care!!"  "I'm never going outside again!"

"For gosh sakes Freddie, shut up I'm trying to sleep!"

Yesterday my computer also decided to go all wonky!  Finally I just walked away until this morning.  I had to go in and restore it to a previous date and this seems to have fixed things.  Yippee!

  5. Hi Y'all,

What's with the pouting? Just be happy you get out. Besides the weather isn't conducive to long outings. Besides, my Human thought Bassets more or less liked to flop around limp like. Even when people pick y'all up, don't y'all just kind of get "limp"? ;)

    Y'all come back now,

  11. Oh that's not good! Thankfully you were using a leash. We have rockwalls that the city has built for everyones yards, which is great because the winds get really bad here. Hopefully you are able to get that fence up soon, so freddie doesn't have to be tied up for too long. :)

  21. Wow that was quite a wind! Freddie seems to be taking it well - or not... Those pictures are hilarious!! Hope you don't have a hard time getting the fence back up or we will miss all those flying ear pictures.

  22. So glad everyone is okay. We have a fence like this and we've had this happen too. It's very scary. It's good to see that Fred is keeping himself busy milkin' the "my life sucks" routine. He's so cute. Poor Gloria, though.

  23. When it is dark out I often have this question of "is the gate shut and the side garage door closed?" because on occasion someone has left them opened...since we live on acreage it would freak me out if the poochies got out. So I compulsively check it just to make sure.

Your photos are just too funny!

  24. poor Freddie and poor YOU!!! Hope the fence is fixed soon and I hope you no longer have any problems with your computer!

  25. Oh wow when it rains it pours. ;) Too bad about your fence.

Fred really looks upset not to be able to run free in the yard.

  26. So sorry about your fence. This is really an inconvenience for you, but my goodness, Freddie is quite the drama queen (king)

And that is why we love him so much.

  27. OMG! So glad that you took Fred out on his leash. We are always worried about our Siberians taking off on their own for a long run. They know how to open the glass storm door to the porch. This is not a good thing.

  28. Poor Barney!

Well, I'm glad under this circumstance they were on a leash. And it's a good thing they weren't there when the fence toppled.

    Freddie looks like a Rockstar.

  33. LOL those pictures are hysterical!! :D Sorry to hear about your fence, though. A whole section of our picket fence was demolished years ago during a bad rain/windstorm when our neighbor's weeping willow was uprooted and fell onto it, so I know what a nuisance a thing like that can be.

I nominated your blog for the One Lovely Blog award - stop on by to pick it up! And have a fun weekend! :)
