Menopause Moment
Yep. Welcome to another addition of "Menopause Moment". After doing my post yesterday I got all melancholy thinking about my babies who have passed on. The reason I started this blog two years ago was to help me get through the passing of our Basset Barney. He was 12 when he passed and had a good life but that didn't make the loss any easier. As you all know your not just losing a pet but a member of your family. Our Belgian Shepard mix, Bear, was 10 when the big C took him. Barney was 4 at the time and mourned for his buddy a long time. It was heart breaking to watch him. Bear's scent was still all through our house. Anywho, here are some pictures of the guy who started it all and his big brother.
Yes even Barney had to endure the Seahawks! This torch has been passed on to Gloria as we all know Freddie is a Lions fan like his Momma!
Barney and his sister at the cottage. This picture shows how even if we want to move we don't 'cause we don't want to disturb a sleeping baby. A much younger Brandi doesn't look to pleased with her furry brother.
Ahhh! The family photo. Ooops! where's the human kids! (hee!hee!)
Thanks for joining me in another addition of "Menopause Moment". (Sorry about the old grainy pictures)

Great memories!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing those photos. I know that feeling - we have pictures through the house of our dogs that have passed and I love to see them and remember the great times we had with them and then I start crying because they're gone! Always blame hormones :-) Wow Bear was a big dog! And Barney - so cute - love them - Leigh (Magic's Mum)xx

Big wags to everyone,
Your pal Snoopy :)
These old family pics are great. I really like the one of Barney sitting behind the silver tea set. He looks so prim and proper.
ReplyDeleteYou can never forget the ones that have passed on. I know, I sure do still miss my Billy! Gloria
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures of nice memories.
ReplyDeleteGrief is an on again/off again thing. There are days I'm just fine and then one where I can't get Penney or Louie out of my mind. Allie Mae is OK - I knew it was her time but not Phoebe :(. Bless you as you remember and share with us those you loved and are still in your heart. I second Bongo re: the photo of Barney behind the silver set. Oh, my - we came to tea!
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet memories, looks like they had fantastic lives with you!

It's always nice to take a walk down memory lane, even if sometimes it causes a few tears to flow. Love the old pictures.
ReplyDeleteMemories and photos! Two things we must have in our lives. Thank you for taking us down your memory lane.
ReplyDeleteNina, Myshka, Betsy, Lucy, Phoebe and Lily
Barney and Bear have the sweetest faces! It's a good thing to remember those who we loved so much!
ReplyDeleteLove the Menopause Moments...and I love the older pics! Your furbabies are just so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI think my mom has moments like those now. What beautiful pics though and even better are the memories you all have - as a family - together. It is the memories that get us through the really tough dark days.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your sweet and teary eyed remembrance of Barney & Bear. It was four years ago yesterday, Jan 19, that my Mommy had to say goodbye to my sweet older sister Morgan, whom I never got to meet. They were together 15 years and she is still greatly missed. We have photos of her up still and Mommy even made a cool composite photo of me and Morgan together. I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt is those precious memories that are so important. Mommy and I cherish each day we have together. It is such a gift...
We love looking at your photos and reading your posts...and we are following you back now! Thanks so much for following me too.
I know I'm a little late on posting this comment but thanks for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteI remember asking about him in a previous post, and I'm glad to have read this post.
Losing a pet is very very sad thing. I remember crying when I lost Shark, he's the guy on my header.

Bassets make such adorable lap dogs. It's like they have no idea...
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous dogs.
ReplyDeleteI am in terror of losing my babies, I know it will happen sooner rather then later as they are getting up there. Tubby will be 11 Norbert will be 10 and Ping will be 9 and Zira is 13. Its so scary but I know the blog will help me get through it. I pray every day that my dogs will make it into their mid to late teens
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I still mourn the loss of my Golden, she was 14 when she passed and though she did have an amazing life filled with love it's never easy to lose a furbaby.

I love the memories. It is so hard to lose a member of the family. Eventually, however, we can smile when we remember them rather than cry. Great title!
