Freddie wasn't feeling good yesterday. I knew it was going to happen and was just waiting for it 'cause Sunday he'd been eating crud out of the garden. Then when he wouldn't eat his supper Sunday night, I knew for sure it was going to be a long night. Fred is very vocal about things and when he's sick it is no different. He just whines.....a lot. Was I surprised when I had to take him out at 3:00 a.m. to go potty. No. His stomach had been squeaking all night and he was whining and couldn't get comfortable. And there's nothing worse than when your outside in the dark while your dog is going potty and all you can hear are those squeaky squirting noises coming out of his butt! Yes, it was going to be a long night!
So this is how Fred spent most of Monday.
Whining........ "Ughhhhhhh.....my tummy hurts! Momma do something!"
I did feel really bad for him, he really didn't look good. The first thing I had to do was try and get him to eat something, 'cause now he's missed two meals and it just makes his stomach worse. So I tempted him with some cheese which he wouldn't take at first until he saw Gloria was going to take it. Once he ate a few small pieces, I gave him some Pepto Bismol.
Then he went back laying and whining. He just has to be so darn dramatic about it! Geesh!
It was so nice when he finally fell asleep and the whining stopped. Whew! That's enough to drive you batty!
By the afternoon I knew he was feeling better when he followed his nose out to the kitchen to see what I was cooking. So I gave him his kibble and he ate it right down. Now I could finally quit worrying!
Hmmm.....maybe he planned the whole thing to keep my mind off of Barney....nah!
P.S. - Fred's in a photo contest and could use your votes! You can find it here http://www.prestigiouspuppy.com/photo-contest/april-photo-contest/
We are very sorry to hear that Fred ate crud. That's not good. Not good at all. Of course, it isn't good that you had to be up and down all night either, but poor Fred looks miserable in some of those pics!!! Glad he is better now!! xoxo Chloe and LadyBug

Why is it that the 'bad restaurant reviews' always happen in the middle of the night? I do hope Fred is continuing to feel better--I had no idea that Fred is a 'drama king!' :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry Fred had a tummy ache....he is a very smart guy maybe he was trying to keep your mind on other things....not the best way to do that (at least for him....ha ha).
ReplyDeletePoor Freddie.
ReplyDeleteI would heve given him a warm bottle. i don't know the exact wordin English, you know the pouch you fill with warm water, to keep warm.
Anyway, glad the drama king is feeling better.
Thats guy for ya! (my Mom said that). Glad he is feeling better!

Fred, Fred, Fred. Was that crud snack from the garden worth 2 missed meals (and missed sleep)? Or maybe it was a plan...that Fred is a empathetic sort of doggie. I can tell. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are both feeling better!
Fred and crud...geez! He's always finding some type of crud to mow down! lol. He's lucky he has you to take care of him and put up with his whining hehe. Hopefully it helped keep your mind on other things ;)
ReplyDeleteOh dear, so sorry to hear that Fred wasn't feeling well! Poor boy, tummy ache wasn't what he wanted at all! He was so lucky to have you taking care of him. Glad that he is okay now.
ReplyDeleteOh, Fred we are sorry you had the tummy rumbles. We gets them sometimes and Momma will just give us small little homemade treats. She also sometimes gives us small pieces of white bread to help with our tummy issues. Our vet said to to that with Cleo when she wasn't eating much but the bread helped her tummy not rumble. Glad you are feeling all better. It was so nice of your Momma to give you some cheese to go with your Whine (wine). BOL Sniffs, The HoundDogs
ReplyDeleteOh Dear Freddie....glad he is feeling better! I did have to laugh when you mentioned standing outside listening to the Freddie squirts :) The things we mommas do for our babies.
ReplyDeletePoor Freddie, this happens a lot at our house particularly to Bob who will eat anything

Our dogs eat sticks, leaves and whatever they can find off the ground so we really need to watch them when they go out...otherwise we hear up chucking noises all nite long! Hope you learned a listen fred!
ReplyDeletePoor Fred!!!! I am so happy he is feeling better though. Isn't he just like most guys who just can't be sick without being totally dramatic?

Oh Fred! Why does your Mama's delightful writing make me laugh at your suffering. I'm feeling bad for both of you...truly, AND glad you're feeling better. No more crud, please.

ReplyDeletePoor Fred...I've never heard a dog whine. I'm sure it's un-natural and sad. We are glad he's better.

Glad you're doin' better, Fred. My Human gives me Bismuth tabs when I feel sicky poo. I take the same tummy pill in the morning that my Humand does. My doctor told her to give me that and the same allergy pill every day that she takes.
Hope y'all are having a great week now that Fred's feelin' better!
Y'all come back now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Poor Baby!! I imagine that whining all day from being sick would be rather difficult. So glad you are feeling better Fred. Now what else is in the garden??? :)

ReplyDeleteBasset Momma....
ReplyDeleteOh poor Fred!! I know, I know, he did it to himself!! But I cannot help saying it!! Poor Fred!! ;-}
My Rose did something like that once. At an ungodly hour. She had apparently been experiencing tummy troubles, because my girl vomited. I then let her outside while cleaning up the mess. On our great room carpet. Yep!! Rose greeted me at the clear sliding glass door with this mischievous expression written upon her face. I let my mongrel back in, assuming that she was finished. Wrong!! I let her on my bed, in the stillness of night, only to watch Rose vomit back up whatever it is she found outside!! Where? On my bed!! ;op
Fred is a really cute patient though. Whining or not, he really is adorable, heehee. I'm glad hes feeling better though!
ReplyDeleteOh Fred, you are a cutie patootie!! Hope you are still feeling better!
