I thought I was moody but holy cow, what's up with Mother Nature?! She just can't make up her mind. Last week was hot, sunny and 23C. Now it's 1C or -4C with the windchill. We had winds upwards of 70 km/hr yesterday along with rain, sleet and snow! I just hope all the tender plants that have sprouted survive. My butterfly bush started sprouting leaves which have now turned black. Then there's my poor Weeping Double Cherry that I planted outside the front door last year. It was doing so well. It had tons of beautiful blossoms and was already attracting swarms of butterflies. Now it looks awful! I just hope it comes back.
So while we wait out Mother Nature's hissy fit, I thought I'd share some of the pictures I took from last week of my Weeping Cherry (it's really weeping now!) and the butterflies.
There were so many of them hanging around our front window enjoying the sun! It was beautiful!
Well, better go bundle up to take the hounds out 'cause like our thermometer says....it's COLD out!!
"Let me know when it's warmed up." "Until then I'll just lay here and whine!"
Same happening here. I'm bored of the chilliness...
ReplyDeleteAnd when I left home, the cats had gone back to bed, under the blanket...pfff
I know, the weather is crazy here too. Mum keeps putting away her boots then getting them out again! Those are some great photos. Deccy x ps. aren't dog paws the cutest?!!
ReplyDeleteI think Fred and you have the right idea and that's just to stay in bed where it's cozy! We're having the same thing here too--Sun returns for us on Wednesday, at least that's what they say now, we both know Mother Nature could change her mind!
ReplyDeleteTHANKS for the good thoughts for Annie--Lucas is exhausted, and so am I! :-)
Stay warm! Best to remain all snuggled up in that blanket! Those spring photos are beautiful too!
ReplyDeleteWhere are you from? I am from Canada and the weather here is just as unpredictable. Gotta love global warming.
ReplyDeleteI have a Labrador Retriever who refuses to go outside in the rain. Makes for an interesting discussion with him at 6 AM. LOL.
Mother Nature must be going through menopause! lol Very nice pics!
ReplyDeleteIt has been a strange year for weather! Beautiful photos...especially the last one of Fred. I don't recall seeing that sleeping position before. Fred is an innovator.
ReplyDeleteLOL yall need to come to Texas and visit it was in the 90's today, lets trade houses :) Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteIt isn't better for us who live in a tropical country either. It's not cold like yours but we have deafening thunderings and lightnings and then terrible thunderstorms for a few hours daily. We never know when the downpour comes and when it comes, it's so heavy and cause flash floods here and there. I'm so sick of my weather too.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are beautiful though. How lovely to see the cherry blossoms but Fred's picture is hilarious. He sure knows how to pose for his mommy.
I feel your pain my furend. It is really yucky on my hill too. What happened to all that WONDERFUL weather we had back in MARCH???
ReplyDeleteMother Nature is bipolar here too. Record lows and crazy wind last weekend. It must have moved on to you! My pups totally agree with Fred. The lazy things won't go outside for any length of time. They already shed most of their undercoat with the warming trend we had last month, so I guess they are cold?
ReplyDeletecold here in Michigan too but thank goodness we didn't have ice or snow! (yet) lol
ReplyDeleteYour weather is Crazy Pants.... I hope you get some nice warm weather soon so all the butterflies and the plants will be okay. I'd be whining too...
ReplyDeletepawhugs, Max
Beautiful shots of the butterflies!! Let's hope for a warm up soon!!
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe all those butterflies!! That was so neat, and LOVE your pictures. Mother Nature needs to take a chill pill ;)
ReplyDeleteThose butterflies are beautiful. Fred I think you have the right idea. It shouldn't be to long before Mother Nature is in a good mood.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Your paws are just begging for a massage aren't they? I just want to stick my thumb in there and prod away!!
ReplyDeleteCrazy weather this year! Beautiful pics, my friend!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how strange the weather has been this year! The pics are awesome!
ReplyDeleteYou got snow, I got sunburned. Who gets a sunburn in April? Yes, Mother Nature sure is throwing us for a loop this year!
ReplyDeleteWoof! Woof! We got lots of Canadian visitors shopping oat our store and loving the weather here. Lots of Golden ALOHA n Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Liked the one of your feet Fred but worry your people might notice your toe nails are getting a bit long. Hide before they get the cutters out!
ReplyDeleteHi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteMother Nature is exercising her "woman's prerogative"!
It's only in the low 50's here with 30mph winds. They're calling for more snow showers tonight. It stayed around 37 Fahrenheit and was 40 this morning. It's supposed to be in the 70's by Thursday and around 80 on Saturday.
I warned everyone that a summery March foretold March in April. Who knew it would be April going out like a lion?
Fred's got the right idea!
Y'all come back now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
I am not loving the cold weather either, I prefer it warmer and your right, temperature extremes galore
ReplyDeleteurban hounds
I just blogged about the crazy weather too!! It makes me mad!! Stay warm!!
ReplyDelete~Higgins
Love the photos- beautiful! Stay warm with the hounds!
ReplyDeleteBOL!!! OH MAN THOSE HOUND PAWS!! You are too cute. We will be sending you some warm thoughts as well. Hopefully mama nature will figure it out! :)
ReplyDelete~Weinerful Gang~
Good way to wait out the cold weather.....though we scotties revel in it! Mother Nature has been a bit haywire here too, this year. Hope those beautiful butterflies survive.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
Here in the middle of NSW, 23 C is just warm--and usually a winter day...we rarely get to minus degrees--only on winter NIGHTS.
Isn't it crazy??? I haven't seen any butterflies here yet and it sure felt like winter again yesterday. With all the rain we have had the backyard looks more like a pond.
ReplyDeleteLove the butterfly photos. Simply beautiful. Mother nature has been off her game this year for sure. We had a cold front come in on Friday and I was not happy about it.
ReplyDeleteI haven't really decided whether I like the cold whether yet -- we really don't get enough of it here. That would be OK with my mommy -- she hates the cold. I love a breezy day where the wind blows through my ear furs. There are so many smells in the air! :)
ReplyDeleteI love a good butterfly chase! Teehee! :)
Woofs & hugs, <3
~Bailey (Yep, I'm a girl!)
Beautiful pictures of the butterflies / moths....
ReplyDeleteThis weather has been crazy. Violet likes the cooler days, just not the rain...She's a diva, and apparently so am I because my husband will walk her when it's raining...
Julie
Great pictures of the butterflies
ReplyDeleteOh no! I think I'd be more worried about the butterflies, though, than the cherry. While the cherry may look like heck this year, it' unlike this storm will do lasting damage and she'll come back brightly next. Not so sure about those butterflies though. I hope they found some place safe to wait out the storm.
ReplyDeleteBut I would be devastated about the garden if we got snow now. :[ Hope the snow doesn't linger long.
Myself, I am SICK of wind. Everyday wind, wind, wind. I am still windblown from the Sunday training day...ugg.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of the butterflies and flowers. I hope all of your plants make it.
Good idea Fred! Stay warm! I hope your tree is ok! Those butterflies are beautiful
ReplyDeleteDachshund Nola
Oh Fred, now that is the way to spend a cold day. We ageree about Mother Nature. It has been extra warm here and we are not ready for the heat. Then it gets really cold and wet and we are not ready for the cold.
ReplyDeleteOh well, at least our wisteria is holding up against the odd weather
What an awesome sight that must have been! I lost three flowering bushes due to mother nature's hissy fit that were part of my pet memorial garden. :( One I've had for almost 6 years. I hope she makes up her mind real soon.
ReplyDeleteSpring is crazy...FUR SURE!! As long as we have flowers, we are good with whatever comes our way!!
ReplyDeleteWyatt and Stanzie
I'm used to it by now. It can be sunny, windy, rainy and snowy all within 10 minutes here. >.<
