Fred will do anything to steal a kleenex. I don't know if it's because he can't get at the toilet paper roll anymore or what! He'll counter surf for kleenexes and even try to steal them out of your hand. Lately he's learned that I keep them in pockets so he can't get at them......or so I thought!
Yesterday he stole my housecoat from our bedroom and went and hid in the bathroom with it.
"What?" "I was just bringing it to you!"
"But I'm not in the bathroom Freddie."
Then a couple of minutes later.........
He's routing through the pockets for kleenexes. Basset hounds have a reputation for not being really smart. Believe me they are smart but very stubborn and Freddie.....he's one smart cookie!
We have the same issue with Norbert, he loves eating kleenexes and napkins. He will pretend to snuggle up and then he pulls a kleenex out of your pocket.
ReplyDeleteHaha he knows where mommy hides the prizes! He is smart!
ReplyDeleteOh Freddie, you are a smart cookie!! You were just wanting to wipe the slobber from you nose to give your mom a big kiss, right!!!
ReplyDelete~Higgins
Oh boy! Finn went through the toilet paper phase. I thought I was going to kill her. Luckily we're past that. I love that look you are giving!
ReplyDeleteWell we have a picket pocket in our house. Cleo was the worst but Amiee has this habit as well. She can still a wallet out of my husbands back pocket when he leaves them lay out. You can not even tell she touched them jeans. She took 10 $100 bills out to the back yard one day while he was in the shower. Them hounds are smarter than you think, they just like to fool us. Sniffs, The HoundDogs
ReplyDeleteBOL I just love tissues and paper towels too! Gotta keep my mouth clean you know!
ReplyDeleteLovies, Miss Mindy
Woof! Woof! OH! Oh! Happy Weekend. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I could never have a Basset ... one look at that adorable sad-eyed face and I would give them anything they wanted! Fred is too cute. My mom's Bichon has a Kleenex fetish also!
ReplyDeleteHaha, we don't steal kleenex, but we stole 3 potatoes today! Our mom took them, and we kept on stealing them. We once stole a piece of summer sausage out of our grandmother's pocket, it was wrapped in plastic and she was going to take it to work. We had other plans for it though...
ReplyDeleteCaoimhe is the Kleenex thief here - she will gently remove tissues from our peeps' pockets while they're eating their dinner and not paying attention :-) love from Magic xx
ReplyDeleteOh Yes... the grrrreat TISSUE ISSUE. It seems to really upset the peeps.. I find it quite amusing myself. Better than strewing Stuffie Guts even.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the gooooooood work Fred. I (Frankie Furter) am very much PROUD of your persistence. AaaaaaaaaCHEW!!! BaaaaaWaaaaah.
Miro is the same way. Prefers used tissues. Gross!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Fred I love me a kleenex too. I take them out of the trash at home and am MOM's church. Do you know how many people use Kleenex at church?!! Oh and Fred, might I recomend Q-tips. They are good as well. hehhhehe
ReplyDeleteBlessigs,
Goose
A pal after Tucker's heart who also loves all that is tissue. We have to keep all the bathroom doors closed of late as the little devil comes out and goes crazy for TP!
ReplyDeleteThanks be to God I am not alone! Justus, the late Allie Mae and Seymour all want my kleenexes, preferably used! egads. I thought it was just them but am heartened to hear of all you others. Fred is most clever and can really use his nose :).
ReplyDeleteVof Freddy! That looks fun! I never thought I could need kleenex or toilet paper, which I reach very well! Thanks for a laugh and good idea! x Nero
ReplyDeleteSo funny. Dexter goes through phases, he is over Kleenex right now, but into socks.
ReplyDeleteI don't care much for Kleenex but cat food - that's another story. I steal all of it I can get.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Fred likes to burrow...like me :)
ReplyDeleteMy basset always liked to play with toilet paper, and Lucy has carried on the tradition. Every time I go into the bathroom, the whole role of tp is on the floor and I always know who to blame! Lucy loves to sleep on my pj's or my bathrobe, if I could only get her to bring them to me when I need them, I would be in Heaven!
ReplyDeleteuhoh, that's one of my bad habits! barooo! That's one reason the bathroom door is always closed to me!
ReplyDeleteFred the Chuchu Kleenex Monster! Watch out he does not steal one while your blowing your nose.
ReplyDeleteSweet William The Scot
That's funny. One of the dogs I walk is also a kleenex stealer and very good at.
ReplyDeleteOh Freddie, you naughty little boy. But, who could stay mad at that face?
ReplyDeleteJust epic. Nice on Freddie. I can't believe you tried the robe without checking out the drawers yet.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy Sunday, BM, Spaghetti and Gloria.
Huggies and Cheese,
Haopee
Ha! Eleanor's the same- I've started hiding them in my shirt, tucked in (if you know what I mean). She doesn't catch on to that.
ReplyDeleteOh, but look at that cute face....
ReplyDeleteBOL but how could you be mad at that face?
ReplyDeleteDachshund Nola
You said it...Fred is one smart boy.
ReplyDeleteHe's blessed with an innocent face; I bet he could get away with anything! Deccy x
ReplyDeleteLOL - I think people who put those "smart" lists together really mean "obedient", not necessarily "smart". (Okay, aside from Border Collies who are both...) Anyway, I like the mischief makers, the dogs who figure things out for themselves, that's what I call smart. You show 'em, Freddie. ;)
ReplyDeleteIdo that a lot, too. Classic me story!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Oh Freddie! He is one smart dog and hilarious, too!
ReplyDeleteHi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteI used to like tissues too. Then the Humans started keeping them on top of the fridge and in the bathroom and keeping the bathroom door closed. They also sprayed all the trashcans with pepper spray.
I'm more mature now and leave that stuff alone.
Y'all come back now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
I think Fred is adorable. He has soulful eyes - like moi.
ReplyDeleteLove and licks, Winnie
Awww, I never got my paws on any Kleenex... are they fun to play with? ;)
ReplyDeleteWoofs & hugs, <3
~Bailey (Yep, I'm a girl!)
Ohhhhhhhhhhh! How true! What IS it with Kleenex and paper towels. With Willie it's ANY Kleenex. With our previous poodles, Pearl and Peyton, it was only the used ones. YUCK! Thanks for stopping by during the Pet Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I love Bassets. They are some of the greatest and most expressive dogs around. We have two girls at the dog park, Abby and Lanie, and I adore both of them. Who knew they were Kleenex thieves??? :)
ReplyDeleteWe think Freddie is part Airedale. We're smart AND stubborn ANNNNNNDDDD we love tissues!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes Freddie is an honorary Airedale indeed!
Violet
Love it! In fact I'd like to give you the Pawsome Blogger Award!
ReplyDeleteLove for you to check me out at http://bentleythebasset.blogspot.com/
