A Not Quite Full Moon and Our Tree is Decorated!

Tuesday night I got some pictures of what I thought was the full moon.

It was really cloudy when we went out to take Fred and Gloria for their walk.  So at first I could just see it through the clouds. But by the time we got home from our walk the clouds had cleared, so Freddie and I ran ahead to get my camera so I could get a picture of..............

.....what I thought was the full moon.  I always seem to think it's a full moon the night before it's actually full.  But hey, it looks full to me! According to RRC (Remington's Research Center) it is the Full Beaver Moon and it was on Wednesday.

Yesterday I decided no computer (well maybe just a bit) as I had so much to do including putting the decorations on my tree.   Of course Freddie was right in there helping.

"I don't give a rat's a@*  about the tree.  I want my presents From Wally!"

Although Gloria and Fred aren't allowed to open their gifts from Wally and Sammy (even though they have finished all those yummy Slobber Chops) until Christmas, Sammy and Wally's Momma did tell us to open the pink bag that came with their gift when we decorated our tree...........and look!

Hand made ornaments!  These are made by local street artists in South Africa.  Aren't they beautiful! This is so perfect as every year since Steve and I have been together we have bought one new ornament for our tree.  So this year we have three!

"Yawn.....boooooring!"

"I think they're just beautiful Momma!"

"Suck up...."

Regardless of what Freddie thinks of the tree, it is all decorated now.

This is a picture with the flash on.

And flash off.

Here's one of the beautiful ornaments from Wally and Sammy.  Thanks guys!

Now lots of you have asked how Freddie is doing.  He definitely has his good and bad days.  I did let him go out and play with Gloria in the snow as I just can't deprive him some fun play time.  Besides the fact that if I don't let him play and get his energy out I have to deal with this in the house.

So every few days I let the two them have some play time together outside.  After Freddie sometimes needs some pain meds and we usually have a long night with him getting comfortable.  But at least he is finally wagging his tail again which he hasn't done since August!

Each day from December 1st up until Christmas I am going to feature one of our ornaments that we have gotten over the years. So stay tuned. Tomorrow is #1!

Monday Mischief - Life Goes On

I'm glad to have the past few weeks behind us.  Now we can just settle into a routine and get back to normal (whatever that is!).  So Life goes on just like a roll of toilet paper.

Yep, Freddie's at it again!  No matter where I put the roll of toilet paper he manages to get it.  He had completely stopped this for the summer and now he just struts through the house scanning counter tops, tables, dressers anything, just looking for something to snatch! Here he is scanning the table top.

"Look at me Gloria."  "I got bad hips, so I can do what I want!"

Then he just flops in the chair and acts like he owns the place. Well.....actually...... he does.

"Geesh, Momma!"  "At least let me cover my wiener before you take the picture! "

And Gloria well.......

"I'm sick of Freddie!" "I'm joining the circus!"

She's started practicing to be a circus dog act. Apparently she's tired of all the attention Fred's been getting over this hip stuff. I keep telling her that she'd never make it travelling around from town to town without her family but hey, a girl's gotta have dreams I guess!

Question for anyone who gives there dog fish oil supplements.  Could you recommend something as I have no clue what to get for Freddie.

Now this is a little late but in answer to Dip- Dip & the Bridge and Declan's question "What is a pack rat?" from an earlier post;  a pack rat is a hoarder, someone who keeps everything and can't part with things which is apparently me now!

Monday Mischief - A Fence!

Yep, the only one getting up to mischief on the weekend was this guy.

Hubby,  putting our fence back up that blew down in February.

The weather was finally nice enough to dig the holes and get the posts in the ground on Good Friday.

By Saturday afternoon the rest of it was up. Yay!!

Fred and Gloria were so happy when there Daddy was done!

Now I don't have to stress about the hounds getting out of the yard anymore!  :)

Thanks to Alfie's Blog, Snoopy's Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies and Luna, A Dog's Life for hosting this blog hop.

Life is Good

Good Friday was....well...good of course!

Yesterday my double blossom cherry tree bloomed.

The hounds played in the sun.  Look even Rat Bast@#d enjoyed some sun bathing!

Then we enjoyed the Full Pink Moon.  Thanks to our buddy Remington at the RRC for the heads up.  I did hear a dog howling in the distance.  I'm not sure but it just may have been Remington.  He's a big guy so I'm sure he can send a howl pretty far!

We are also entering Bunk the Pugs Easter Egg Hunt. The game is afoot!!  So check it out!

Have a Happy Easter everyone!

Monday Mischief - Great Weekend

We just had a terrific weekend!  Yes, it did turn cold and rainy again but after all that heat we had, the spring flowers and plants really needed the rain.  Saturday morning was great.  I love getting up early and having my morning coffee on the weekends.  Yes there's lots to be done, but there's no pressure.  I have learned the older that I get not to stress if things don't get done.  As my Mom used to say, "the world isn't going to end".   Some how having this attitude seems to get things done quicker.  Whatever.  I was having my coffee trying to get some commenting done, hubby was sleeping in and the hounds had gone potty, been fed and were now back to sleeping.

Gloria went back to bed with her Dad.
And Freddie chilled in his chair.  Yes, I said his chair.  The first step is accepting it.

Ah....I love these moments.
This is my quiet time.

Until of course Freddie Spaghetti realized he was being ignored.

First he took my sweater off of the office chair and a rag out of the hamper.  He does know how to get the lid off of it to get to the clothes inside.  I now know that if I ignore this behavior, he just lays on his "treasures" and whines and does not chew them.  After a while he tries to find something else that he thinks will get my goat.

"Yuh, huh!"  "How's this working for ya Momma?"  "Look a big bath towel!" "My bad now or what?"

Normally this would start to peeve me off, but Saturday morning I was just too excited. When I was reading through the blogs I follow leaving comments, I had a real surprise when I got to our friend Bailey Be Good's blog.  Apparently his Momma had been up to some mischief too!  Just look what his Momma drew!!

It's my Freddie Spaghetti!  Bailey's Momma is soooo talented and did an amazing job!  Just look at Freddie's eyes.  That is him to a T!! I was so happy and was busy contacting Bailey's Momma to thank her and tell her we just had to have this wonderful picture!  You have got to go over to Bailey Be Good and check out some of her other pictures.  She can draw lots of things, but I love her doggie pictures.  They are so life like and the cost is reasonable for all the work she puts into her drawings.  You can just click Pet Portraits, DrawingMom.com or scroll down my sidebar and click on her button. While your there you can see what Bailey and her sister Nala have been up to.  Maybe you'll even see Bubba!
Thanks again to Bailey's Momma!  It made my whole weekend!

Sparring Bassets Live!

By popular request here is a video of Fred and Gloria in action!  Excuse the filming, it's just something I haven't mastered yet!

When you hear them really yipe, that's when one catches the others ear.  Ouch!  When Gloria's done she just stops and Fred's pretty good at not bugging her anymore.  Usually!
Fred actually has his own channel on youtube with some other videos of him before we got Gloria and from last summer after we got Gloria.  If you would like to check them out his youtube channel here  freddiespaghetti1

Kleenex Thief

Fred will do anything to steal a kleenex.  I don't know if it's because he can't get at the toilet paper roll anymore or what! He'll counter surf for kleenexes and even try to steal them out of your hand. Lately he's learned that I keep them in pockets so he can't get at them......or so I thought!
Yesterday he stole my housecoat from our bedroom and went and hid in the bathroom with it.

"What?" "I was just bringing it to you!"
"But I'm not in the bathroom Freddie."

Then a couple of minutes later.........

He's routing through the pockets for kleenexes.  Basset hounds have a reputation for not being really smart.  Believe me they are smart but very stubborn and Freddie.....he's one smart cookie!

The Bench

In an earlier post I had mentioned that after Christmas I had put the red bench (ottoman) in front of the big window to deter the dogs from slobbering all over it.  Yes and stop Fred from jumping all over it when he sees a squirrel or cat or bird or a spec of dirt go by.   Now they just fight over who's going to be on the bench!

So Fred sits there for awhile and then......

"Momma!  It's my turn to be on the bench!"

Gloria sits there for awhile.  And I'm still left with this.

Oh, yes.  My little plan is working out great!

Wordless Wednesday

As you can see below, Freddie was pretty excited to have made the cut on Blog Paws Wordless Wednesday page.

Naturally he spent the day signing autographs while trying to flee the paparazzi.  He even took a run at one that kept pestering him.

"Get that camera outta my face!!"

Okay, that was freaky.

By noon Freddie was pretty exhausted and had to have a power nap.

After lunch he spent some quiet time with Gloria in the yard. Trying not to let fame go to his head (yeah, right!), he promised her he'd always be there for her.

"I won't change, Gloria.  I promise."

I told Freddie that even though he's famous, he'd still have to pull his own weight around here.  Yep!  You can guess what his answer to that was.

(Snicker, Snicker)

"Whatever, Momma."  "Now get me another doggie bon, bon!"

Thank God for the end of the day when Freddie finally collapsed from swelled head exhaustion.

And Gloria was left thinking to herself.............

"Foiled again!"

"Always a bridesmaid, never a bride!!!"
