It goes something like this,
"Come on Gloria! Come and get your food girl!"
(sigh!) "No, no.......I'll wait until Freddie's had enough." (sigh!)
After almost a year of being with Fred, Gloria's become quite dramatic herself.
When Freds bowl is empty she goes over to eat........aaaaand then Fred starts!
"Help Gloria, I need more food!"
"That sure looks tasty! I can't remember the last time I had a good meal." sniff!sniff!
"You're not having my food Freddie! I just watched you eat!" "Momma!"
"FRED!" "Leave her alone!"
"Get off my back woman!"
"What did you say?"
"Heh,heh,heh, just kiddin'......I mean....What, I'm not doing nothing Momma."
And that happens twice a day at feeding time in our house! What's it like at meal time for your fur babies?
Love it!
ReplyDeleteBoy does this sound familiar! Except, I, BRD take the Fred role and Hootie is Gloria. Bol. We get our meals in puzzles often times, and that at least changes the dynamic somewhat. We both love the puzzles and yuppy puppy machine so much that we will then eat simultaneously. If it's in bowls, it's Baby first, then Hootie's turn. JUST like you two!!
ReplyDeleteSmooches from pooches,
BabyRocketDog and Hootie
This is the first post I've read this morning, and it's given me a nice grin to start the day! :-D As you can imagine at our house, mealtime is anything but quiet, if it is, something is really wrong!
ReplyDeleteWe have the opposite problem. Millie gulps her dinner down first and then watches Dexter greedily. For some reason Dexter every day leaves a few biscuits at the bottom of his bowl for Millie. Which is so cute.
ReplyDeleteOh Fred, the horror....my family starves me too!! I feel your pain!
ReplyDelete~Higgins
Oh fred, you had the best personality...better then some people I know! Deb
ReplyDeleteSo funny! At our house, Beckett and Maddy wolf down their food and Veil usually waits until they are done, so they can stand and watch her chew up every piece of kibble individually. I swear she does it just to torment them, because she will walk away from her bowl and then turn and run back to it if one of them gets too close to touching it.
ReplyDeleteHaha it sounds like quite the production. The pictures capture it quite well.
ReplyDeleteWe feed the brown dawgs in different areas of the kitchen because if they are near each other they will eat even faster (and we don't want that). Freighter eats in his crate because he will stick his nose in the big dawg bowls and we don't want that. Freighter has now figured how to open his crate door if it isn't latched so he can be in place at the exact moment the food appears. It is quite funny.
Woof! Woof! Oh! FRED!!! Happy Weekend! Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture that last one is. Fred, you are one big character. Meal time around here is totally wild with at least 12 to 15 cats that all want to eat at exactly the same time. Try to put down that many dishes all at once. And of course we have the select few that eat really fast and then just move from plate to plate. Loved this post. Fred, you are the best. Take care and have a really good week end.
ReplyDeleteFred is quite funny. We feed are dogs strategically spaced so that no one has any chance to hog or borrow. Bob eats in his crate and Norbert and Dr. Zira eat on opposite sides of the kitchen. Ping eats on the deck and Tubby eats in the hallway. Eery eats pretty speedy but they do that when they are alone too. My favorite part is that the pugs bay for their food!
ReplyDeleteHahaha. I love freds expressions
ReplyDeleteThat smile in the last picture is hysterical!

Critter Alley
LOL!!! "Get off my back woman"?? Fred, you're lucky you covered that one up pretty quickly...talking to your momma like that *gasp*. Love Freddie's smile :) And Gloria's squishy face hehe.
ReplyDeleteGood question! hehe! When we had two dogs, Kelly would eat both bowls of food, and drain both bowls of water! I had to put them in separate places and watch to make sure our lab was getting his share!!
ReplyDeleteOh this is funny. Your Freddie is a drama king! Thanks for the smiles this morning.
ReplyDeleteLuckily no feeding time drama here, but I'm sure there will be when we get a 2nd dog one day. I guess this is what I have to look forward to at feeding time hehe.
ReplyDeleteperhaps you should feed them separately... or enjoy the drama, silly dogs..
ReplyDeleteMy, my, my. I never knew basset hounds could be such drama queens. :)
ReplyDeleteLife is much easier with one dog. I feed Honey in a food toy and she's too excited to whine or make faces. :)
Love the photos! Bassets are such funny hounds!
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, we have to "SIT" and stay still before mom gives us our food! If we move, she picks the bowls up. So food time here is pretty calm now. It used to be an all-out free for all before Dad instilled the "SIT" requirement.

LOL! Best laugh I've had today!!!! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteJulie
Rolling with laughter! You just have to admire Fred! Glad Gloria stands her ground once she gets eating. Eating time around here is calm but very fast. Freedom, Casper and Nikki don't eat at a leisurely pace...more like vacuum cleaners. I tell myself I want to train them all to sit and wait for their dinners, but I haven't taken any action in that arena.
ReplyDeleteAt feeding time here, he who hesitates, loses. Both dogs will sit and wait for the "OK" gesture but then they inhale their food.
ReplyDeleteFeeding time here involves me asking the dogs, "Do you want some breakfast?" which causes them to dash to their crates and stand inside, heads poking out. Koira gets her food first, then Pallo. Koira finishes first, most of the time, and as soon as she does, Pallo starts up with this loud growling, rumbling constantly, with crescendoes of growliness whenever Koira or the cat Martha walk what he thinks is too close to his kennel. I keep trying to tell him that if he just ate instead of growling, I bet there wouldn't be anything left for them to steal, even if they wanted to.
ReplyDeleteOMD FRED... BOL at the last two pics.. and WHAT you SAID to your Momma!! Man you are BRAVE. I showed my mom my teefs... ONCE.. NOT a wise move. I'm just sayin buddy.
ReplyDeleteThat's a funny system they got going on there! Fred's faces are pretty much the best and most emotive of any dog I've seen!
ReplyDeleteHey Fred, Hey Gloria, Jet here. Now, now, guys... Mom and I got a giggle from your routine... JJ and I scarf our food in about 2 minutes, so, it's hard to relate. Fred, I think Mom did that thing called BUSTED YOU! Remember, she's the provider of the food, gotta be cool...
ReplyDeleteBOL loved this! Meal time here with 3 adult dogs and 3 8 week old puppies is a little hectic! I have to eat on a chair so my foods not stolen
ReplyDeleteDachshund Nola
this is just too funny...laughing me arse off!
ReplyDeleteThe last picture is hilarious!!!! Meal time at our house is pretty drama free. Pugs don't EVER wait for food. The only part that's a bit dramatic is that fact that every day I "forget" (or hope the humans will forget) that I am supposed to show them a sit before they will feed me. And those sillies don't so I whimper my butt to my spot before they feed me. :)
ReplyDeleteROFL, this made me laugh out loud. You're so dramatic, Freddie, it's adorable. That last picture is the best, you have a great smile!
ReplyDeleteMeal time around here involves lots of dancing and sometimes a bark or two from Petal if I'm taking too long to serve up their food. They all know they have to sit before they get their food. Petal sits up as tall as she can, trying to reach the bowl I'm holding without actually jumping up. Ella wiggle, wiggle, wiggles and then finally sits. Lassie sits very politely and keeps up this polite act, unless you turn away, then he's sticking his head in Ella's bowl and snatching some of her food.
BOL, sounds familiar
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
I can't get over how much Gloria looks like HoneyDew! At out house the food can stay in the bowl all day. Sampson (if I am not watching)will usually go over and take a couple of mouth fulls from HoneyDews and then eat his own. HoneyDew will eat hers and then go and check to see if Sampson left anything. Sometimes she gets lucky and sometimes she don't!
ReplyDeleteFeeding time has gotten better around here!! It used to be like feeding the tigers!! Now Cleo just jumps on the counter and gets the food down herself!!
ReplyDeleteHi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteMy Human says she has never seen a dog with so much expression as Freddie.
At my feeding time, I BARK, BARK, BARK!!! even though I know the Human stops and stares at me every time and it slows things down to a halt...I can't help it, I'm so excited!!!
Y'all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Freddie we would never have guessed you are a drama king!! Our mom separates us and we have to stay by our bowls until everyone is finished. Myshka and Sasha scream and howl until they get their food.
ReplyDeleteNina, Myshka, Sasha, Betsy, Lucy, Phoebe and Lily
I'm thinking maybe Gloria waits on purpose. That way she can drive Freddie nuts when she has good and he doesn't.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to see and your captions alongside the photo's of Freddie and Gloria are so humourous, enjoyed every moment.
ReplyDeleteLove from Kirra -x-
Hey Bassetmomma - I'm happy to finally join your blog - and look forward to reading all about your dog-a-logs. I keep reading your comments on other blogs and have thought I'd better get around to meeting you! I think you have a really kind heart.
ReplyDeleteTail Wuggles, Rubie
Hi! That's a quite story two times a day! With our 3 dogs, first everyone eats on their own plate but then they want to check the other plates and biggers want to 'help' small Foxy. I have to take care only Foxy's plate. Nero doesn't mind to share his, but Hanna doesn't allow anyone to take her food!
ReplyDeleteI guess more difficult is for me to eat because there are 6 eyes staring and waiting something!
x Teje
At our house DeDe eats first, and then stares at my bowl and drools while I decide whether I will eat or just sit there and make her suffer. Of course, sometimes I let DeDe have my breakfast. Jen has to supervise us too.
ReplyDeleteHello Freddie!
ReplyDeleteYou're so funny! Keep enjoying your treats with Gloria! Happy new week!
Love,
Piappies Fudgie, Princess, Frappie, Mocha, Sugar, Wai-Pai, Wai-Max & Forgie
Haha you two never cease to make us laugh, your facial expressions are priceless Fred!
ReplyDeleteSlobbers
Now that was funny. We love the expressions in the photos. I (Stella) eat like there is no tomorrow. Actually I don't chew, its more like a vaccum cleaner sucking stuff up. Rory on the other hand likes to chew, look around and then chew some more. I know he's just teasing me. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDeleteOH My gosh, I am laughing so hard my stitches hurt. You guys just slay me......
ReplyDeleteseriously....
I don't think I hvae seen a more King of Drama than you Fred.
Thanks for the smiles.....
bert
Thanks for the smiles you two! :)
ReplyDeleteHa-ha! Similar story here...lots of scarfing by Wyatt, Stanzie eats more slowly. Stanzie leaves about 3 kibbles in her bowl for Wyatt to clean up, so he feels like he got away with something! Girls rule, boys drool!!
ReplyDeleteWyatt's Mom
Oh, I needed a laugh! :-D At our house Rudy spends more time watching others eat than eating his own food. Then they go out while he quickly gobbles to try to catch up. Silly boy!
ReplyDeleteI just inhale my food...... then choke! Fred could compete with KC for drama pet of the year! Deccy x
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious! I love your picture stories. Fred cracks me up. Food time in our house usually goes surprisingly well, even though my two doxies are hounds, too.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! We have food drama in our house too.
ReplyDeleteHar har! They are sooooo adorable! No such drama at my house - they boys polish their bowls off on opposite sides of the kitchen. Then they both belch.
ReplyDelete:)
P.S. Your post title just appeared under the BlogHer ad. :) I hope they continue to highlight pet bloggers with the new set-up.
