Yesterday they dug our road down. They neglected to tell us that it will be impassible for about a week. Our car, like our neighbors, sat in the driveway. I had drove my husband to work and was supposed to pick him up at 4:30 p.m. That didn't happen. This morning one of the construction guys helped my husband get our car out of the driveway and onto the main road. When my husband asked why we weren't notified, he just shrugged. Well, he is just a worker after all.
It was like a moat.
Today we're supposed to get some more thunder storms. They are going to be working on the water lines. I have put some jugs of water in the fridge, you know, just in case we're not notified.
Even the hounds are getting tired of the constant sound of big machinery and beeping going on in front of the house. This morning I think Freddie was ready to lose it!
"No more Momma! I can't take it anymore!! I want my crescent back!"
Even poor Gloria was starting to crack.
"Momma, I'm afeared I am going to lose it too!" (Can you tell we've been watching the Hatfield & McCoys hee hee!)
I finally talked Freddie into calming down.
Well, as much as Fred can I guess.
So this is the scene in front of our house this morning.
You'll notice the guy looking down. I'm sure he's saying, "Yep, that's a hole. We did good.""
This next one is on our front lawn.
Yay! Summertime!!
I'm going to end this post on a lighter note with a picture of a beautiful bouquet of flowers that my son got me for Mother's Day.
This was taken yesterday. They look the same as they did on Mother's Day when he brought them. I just find this amazing!! Maybe they're on steroids or something. :)
And to think I was ticked off yesterday because a street I wanted to drive down was closed and there weren't any notifications in the paper. I don't even live on it! Congratulations on your patience!
ReplyDeleteAnd what is it with construction worker standing around looking at things. "Yup, that's a hole." "Yup, that's some paint." Maybe they're thinking really hard about their next move. Measure twice, dig once!
Hi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stoppin' to visit me!
Hope y'all are havin' a wonderful, fun week! After all, what else can y'all do unless you want to swim in that muddy river in front of your house. ;)
Y'all come back now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Oh wow. That would be a phone call to the town. I can't believe no one notified you! Nuts. Pretty flowers!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe those flowers still look like that!!! WOW! Maybe we should have Jake pick out lotto tickets for us? Lucky touch? lol. And I"m sorry, but I started laughing at the picture you took through the curtains of the guy on your lawn. Peeping through with your camera to get a shot :) hehe. Just looking at those pictures of your road gives me a headache :S
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty flowers!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't believe that mess in front of your house. What's worse is they didn't tell anyone about it and that they'd be prisoners in their own home for a while. Unreal.
Loved that last photo of Fred!
Wow things are really going crazy over there :) Man we need rain sooooo bad!
ReplyDeleteHow can they do that to a road and not notify you?? Dealing with construction noise is not fun at all, but being stuck there, is even worse!
ReplyDeleteHave you checked to see if those flowers are real? That is amazing they are still around. If that is Fred's calmed down look I would hate to see what he would do to the workers if let lose with his "I'm upset" look. Gloria's eye, holy dog it must be bad if the Gloria is all freaky.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
OMG it seems like the city is always out doing something around your area! I'd be tempted to tell em to beat it! Love Gloria's face. We started watching Hatfields and McCoys off the tivo last night. Part 2 tonight :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. We USED to have a great local councilor who took care of making sure things like this didn't happen. He lived in the neighborhood so he was directly impacted when this stuff happened and we knew where he lived.
ReplyDeletePeople decided to let party politics take over and deemed it "bad" that we had a conservative councilor and went all out to dump him for a man who promised better communication, more spending for schools, etc. Well I have yet to meet anyone in the neighborhood who can remember the man's name they elected. He's never been here once. The roads are worse than they've ever been and people are complaining bitterly that taxes are going up.
My only response is they got exactly the government they asked for when they elected him. He doesn't live here, just how did they think he was going to be accountable?
Ugh what a pain!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the condolences about Charlotte. It means so much
Nola and family
At least you were able to get your car out--I know how these 'projects' can wear on everyone two and four legged. I hope it ends soon, for everyone's sanity! Hang in there!!
ReplyDeletePoor babys. Hope that means mom is stuck at home with you. My Lily would be screaming
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
What a mess! I hope it's really nice after they finish up. I was laughing so hard at the pictures of Fred & Gloria. Gloria looks on the brink. The flowers are lovely. I can't believe they're from Mother's Day! They look like you just got them.
ReplyDeleteHi Gang , Sorry but I laughed , those pics of you going ga-ga was just BOL funny. Hope it's all fixed up soon.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Holy carbunkles, that's a lot of mess you've got goin' on there! No I don't know what a carbunkle is either, but it was the first thing to come to mind.
ReplyDeleteKeep looking at your pretty flowers...pretty flowers...
Nubbin wiggles,
Oskar
Yikes! What a total mess. I sure hope they finish that road work soon.
ReplyDeleteCan't say that I blame any of you going nuts over all that mess and noise! At least the flowers can make you smile!
ReplyDeleteAWWWWWM Afeared my furends will go CRAZY if this Street and Water stuff doesn't end SOOOOOOON... We watched the Hatfields and McCoy's TOO!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nightmare! I am not suprised the kids are starting to lose it (their expressions are priceless!)
ReplyDeleteI really hope it is all sorted out for you soon.
Lynne x
Hey Fred, Hey Gloria, Jet here. Hi Miss Janet.
ReplyDeleteOMD, that's terrible! Fred and Gloria have the right idea with their expressions. When you said they were digging, you really meant it. I don't think I could even dig as well. Mom calls that digging to China! Tell those humans, hmpf! Hope they finish soon... wanna vacation in the steamy tropics????
Road construction is bad enough to deal with. When it's in front of your house...impossible! Hopefully they'll finish ahead of schedule.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are lovely!
Pat
Critter Alley
I hope they let you out before summer is over! Freddie and Gloria look like they are sick of all the commotion. Maybe they should go out and ask if they help digging the holes will the road work go any faster.
ReplyDeleteIf life's going along well, someone has to try to mess it up! Can't believe you weren't notified. Hope they get a move on and finish quickly.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
Oh yah bummer about that road!! Hope it gets finished quickly. But very pretty flowers!!
ReplyDeletewags
jazzi
.,looking at your photos made us laugh here...lol
ReplyDeleteoh well you look pretty like those flowers were..
Dog Fence
OMD..what a mess! Looks like they are digging in for winter.
ReplyDeleteStay calm ...perhaps we can all come over and help the workers move a bit faster?
Big Nose Pokes
The Thugletsx
I can't bear it anymore, Momma!!! They're so freaking noisy.
ReplyDeleteHow are you holding up, Freddie and Gloria? I hope those workers move faster. They're beating you guys in digging up holes.
Oh wow, flowers on steroids! That's just totally weird. LOL
Huggies and Cheese,
Haopee
Hmmmm. That certainly looks like fun. Not. Hope it all goes away soon. Deccy x ps. Nice collar Fred!
ReplyDeleteRoooo that looks really messy! But I think I've spotted some muddy water in there - perfect for two hounds to roll around in *waggy tail*
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh Myyyyyyyyyyyyy DOG!!
ReplyDeleteI don't blame Freddie and Gloria for being upset, i would be ready to lose my mind as well! And then not tell you you can't drive on the road? OMD I would go nuts!
Hope they complete the work soon.
Your flowers are gorgeous!!! Those last longer than roses but yours are doing exceptionally well!
Have a great weekend!
What a mess!
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are so beautiful and I'm glad that they have brightened up your day!
I hear that here in the US if you want your road fixed just wait until an election is near. What's the pattern there in Canada?
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are beautiful. I can't believe how long they lasted. Ugg on the road. You would think they would have left a way to get in and out. What if there was a fire or a medical emergency? I guess you would be walking to the ambulance. ;)
ReplyDeleteHi! I have missed you and Freddy and Gloria! That doesn't look good on your road. I hope they can fix it soon. Poor puppies listening that noise. Have a wonderful summer and give my hugs to Freddy and Gloria! x Teje
ReplyDeleteI absolutely cannot believe that they didn't tell you about having no car access! That's terrible. I'd be very mad. What are you supposed to do in an emergency? I hope that you don't have one... but oh my goodness - I am in disbelief!
