Hopefully by the end of this week we will be able to get back in our driveways. One thing about it, we get lots of exercise carrying things back and forth from our cars to our houses!
We spent the weekend trying to stay on top of the weeds and just getting lots of yard work in general done. Freddie spent most of the weekend just trying to eat crud from the gardens. So I had a little plan.
I took some bamboo stakes, a roll of twine and kitchen shears. Guess what I made.......
.......a fence to keep basset hounds out of your garden of course! Okay, maybe just Freddie. Low (literally) maintenance and affordable! Yippee!!
"This sucks!"
"Come on! Come and play with me Gloria. (insert whining here)
"I'll even give you the advantage!"
"FREDDIE!! I said NO!"
"Fine. I'm just going to go and eat a stick!"
"Look at me Momma! I'm eating a stick and I didn't even have to go in your stupid garden to get it!" nom nom nom nom.....
"Ooooooo! Look at me! I might poke my eye out! Somebody had better stop me!"
"I mean it......oh rats, darn stick. Oooooo look...uh...ummm.....(yawn!)"
"Yeah, maybe I'll just have a little power nap. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......"
So I don't know who was up to more mischief, me putting up that lovely basset fence, Freddie and his stick or the construction workers and the mess they left us for the weekend!
Haha! Great fence! And oh, I never get tired of Mr. Dramatic
ReplyDeleteNola
Hey Fred I bet if you get a running start you could break right through that "fence". Just sayin'[. Oh and I like your stick. Tell your Momma that my MOM got the wine holder at our churches rummage sale this weekend. She saw it and had to have it. It totally looks like you dude.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
LOL oh Fred, you crack me up. Mom was smart to put up a fence for you...I just hope it actually keeps you out ;)
ReplyDeleteHah, Bassett fence, great idea!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how hissy they can get when you thwart them ^^
Woof! Woof! Golden LAUGHS to you FRED. Hey I do recognize your dog collar. Lots of Golden ALOHA n Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever Bassett fence! But Freddie knew how to entertain himself too!
ReplyDeleteYou showed Her, Fred! But we think you can sort of push through that fence if you really wanted to.
ReplyDeleteWe think you should be allowed out to help dig the road....they'd finish quicker.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella &Roxy
Chewing an ENTIRE stick? No wonder you need a sleep mate! Deccy x
ReplyDeleteHope they finish your road soon, it can't be much fun carrying all your shopping from the park.
ReplyDeleteFred, it must be frustrating not having your choice of sticks from the garden but you were ingenious enough to find one anyway.
Dip Bridge and Elliot x
I don't know why humans are so protective of their gardens! Just looks like a bunch of sticks to me *Waggy tail*
ReplyDeleteIf I remember right, the construction on your crescent is scheduled all summer? Oh, dog! Sending sympathy! Also sending you the Sunshine Award - check my post today for details.
ReplyDeleteI love how all activity ends in a nap. Just the way it is! Have a good Monday!
ReplyDeleteOh dear , still road works , huh they will have built the Great Wall of China quicker! Have a Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
ARRGH! What a mess! At least Freddie knows how to brush his teeth, hehe.
ReplyDeleteLovies, Miss Mindy
The fence is a great idea. Freddie sure knows how to take advantage of a nice sunny spot. I hope you get your driveway back. Good thing you are having nice weather. I'd hate to try to lug groceries from way over there in the rain!
ReplyDeleteit is hard work being the keeper of the garden !
ReplyDeleteSticks are my fave, too but be so very careful...pieces can get stuck in your throat and then..yowsers...hack hack!
ReplyDeleteHa-ha! It sounds like you had equal mischief making going on at your house!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea with the fence!
Oh Freddie - you're SO funny Dude!!
ReplyDeleteHow can they ignore you when you've got Mischief on your mind? That fence was pretty sneaky of your Mum, hey? Gloria reminds me of my buddy Cosmo, I'm always trying to get him to play, it's tough!!
Have fun guys and I'm super excited you're joining in my Mischief Master Class Book - thanks - Woohoo!! :)
Wags to all,
Your pal Snoopy :)
Fred - you really make us laugh :-) There are always home-made fences going up round here as well to keep us doggies off the borders so we know how you feel - woofs and licks from Magic xx
ReplyDeleteWow you got tired out playing with that stick!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the low-cost/low-maintenance fence works out!
Smart thinking by Mama. You guys always look like you are having fun.
ReplyDeleteI think the construction workers get the award for the most "mischief" or if nothing else, HAVOC!!!
ReplyDeleteFreddie just kills me! He and Dakota have soooooooooooooo much in common! If it can fit in their mouth they are ALL OVER IT!
We have those fences too Freddie. Hope you had a good power nap!!
ReplyDeleteYour friends,
Murphy & Stanley
Low-rider dogs are pretty easy to fence out. I use little decorative plastic fencing to keep my flowers from being trampled.
ReplyDeleteDoes she really think that fence is going to keep such a yard terror out? NOT
ReplyDeleteSusie & Bites
They sure can enjoy themselves even with the fence ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL. Freddie! You're so... over confident. I bet your momma is laughing so hard behind your sleeping back.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I had a nice laugh with this one, BM. Although, I doubt my dogs would be stopped by a fence like that. I remember Peanuts climbing a 1 meter ply wood just to go over the other side of a room.
Huggies and Cheese,
Haopee
Mom loves how you got "tuckered" out with your stick! She loves a sleepy hound, bol!
ReplyDeleteoh FRED AND GLORIA,
ReplyDeleteher for so sweet!
and the photos are really great.
I am reader of your blog.
I am a girl beagle and a lot of experience ...

Very smart fence idea! Wish it worked on boxers too!
ReplyDeleteIf Freddie runs out of sticks, please send him here. I have plenty in my yard that need to be picked up (or eaten lol).
Aww, cute pics!
ReplyDeleteWe can't believe she built a fence to keep you out of the garden!! The nerve
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
And yet another advantage to living with Fred...we have a baby gate on stairs that doesn't stop a young Lab from leaping over it to get where she wants to go but is not welcome :-) I wonder what size stakes we'd need to put our twine on...?
ReplyDeleteHey amazing job on that fence. I wish something so simple could keep my dogs out of places they're not supposed to go--but I guess thats one of the beauties of bassets!
ReplyDeleteBOL!!!! Oh man...we are rolling over Freddie!!! But it looks like the construction workers take the mischief award today. Oh bassettmomma you did such a great job on that fence. But we love Freddie and his crazy tactics!!!! BOL! Happy Monday! ~Weinerful Gang~
ReplyDeleteFreddy and Gloria you two cracked us up with your sibling conversation.
ReplyDeleteFreddy sometimes girls just like to lounge about in the sun puddles. I suppose you were casting a shadow over Gloria which would make her tan uneven....I know that is some deep supposin' but I'm a cat and we are deep thinkers.
Hugs Madi your BFFF
Hi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stoppin' to visit me!
BOL...Freddie, if your bored do you want to borrow my backpack and help the humans carry stuff back and forth to their cars?
Hope y'all are havin' a wonderful, safe week.
Y'all come back now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Freddie your mom is pretty clever making that fence to keep you out! That sucks :( We have an idea...you need to grow some longer legs and then you could step over that fence!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Hey Fred, Hey Gloria, Jet here. Hi Miss Janet.
ReplyDeleteOh my, so much mischief to choose from!
Dude, you have such great character, wish we could hang out...
I can see Freddie sticking his head in that fence soon!
ReplyDeleteJump, Freddie! I know you can do it! We saw Bassets do all sorts of tricks and jumps at the Woodinville Basset Bash.
ReplyDeleteFreddie is such a good dog if he lets that little fence stop him! I love their expressions, Gloria looks so mad when Freddie keeps bothering her to play.
ReplyDeleteI know you'll be so glad when everything is repaired and put back together. Smart idea about the fence!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of mischief for your house this weekend. I'm going to vote for Freddie and his stick as mischief maker of the week!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
Colby
Your street looks like mine last year. They put a new gas line down our street with new hook ups and the work is still going on putting in new meters and putting more pressure in the lines. Love your elephant ears hosta. I am with Freddie gardens are to dig in.
ReplyDeleteSweet William The Scot
Basset Fence, that is no fun! We had an Airedale fence once around the garden...it lasted about 10 minutes :D
