Rain to Snow and Back Again!

First up I'd like to thank Remington for alerting us to the Full Worm Moon last night and explaining that as the temperatures start to rise and the ground starts to thaw, earthworm casts appear heralding the return of the robins.  I for one did not know this.  So I went out last night to see if I could get a picture of this moon and possibly hear Remington howling.  At first the clouds covered up the moon, but then they shifted enough for me to see this Full Worm Moon and get a picture.  I however did not hear our buddy Remington howling.  This could have been muffled by the clouds.....or maybe it's just the fact that we are in Ontario and he is in Minnesota! hee! hee!

My picture is a little blurry, but if you check out Remington's RRC, (Remington Research Center), his human Mike got a nice clear picture!

Now I don't know about this Moon bringing the robins, but it sure brought something our way. After it being 15 C (59F) yesterday and raining all day, we woke up to this!

The only thing I can say is maybe the nice white snow............

.....will help clean up the mud that the hounds dragged in from yesterday! Option number two.....I could wash my floor. heh, heh!

"Gosh Momma, enough already with the "mud", geesh!!"

Now the weekend is supposed to be 16C (60F) and rain again!  Come on Mother Nature, make up your mind!  Enjoy your weekend and don't forget to "spring ahead" your clocks an hour and change the batteries in your smoke detectors before you go to bed Saturday night!

On a sadder note my thoughts are with the gang over at Urban Hounds who lost one of their furbabies, Dr. Zira, yesterday to congestive heart failure.  She was  9 years old when they adopted her and gave her a loving  home to live out her senior years.  R.I.P.  Dr. Zira.  If you get a minute maybe you can pop over to Urban Hounds and offer your condolences.

  1. We didn't see the Full Worm Moon here and I think it's because we are in another part of the world. AND we don't have any snow either except a downpour for many many hours.

    Happy floor cleaning, tee hee!!!

  2. Our weather is exactly the same way. Yesterday rain and 15 degrees and everything was melting, today huge snow flakes this morning and back to rain again. Still lots of snow here to melt though, so I haven't run into the muddy paw mess yet. I don't know why but it came as a surprise to me this week, when the radio reminded me to change the clocks this weekend. It seems early, maybe because the winter hasn't really been that bad this year. It will be nice to come home and it's still daylight for a while though!

Gloria looks like she's having a good laugh in that photo! I love it! And we're REALLY jealous of your snow!!!

  5. So glad you took a picture of that gorgeous moon. I should have done that. I watched it come up and wondered how many other people were watching it. I did not know it was a full worm moon. Learn something every day. It was so pretty though.
We will go visit those people that lost their doggie. Have a great week end.

  6. I just tried posting a note on the Urban Hounds' blog, but of course Blogspot won't let me and they don't have the Name/URL option that I use to post here. Would you be kind enough to forward them my message below? I hate to ask, but I'd like to give them our support.

To Urban Hounds: We're so sorry to hear of your loss. Take some comfort in knowing that you gave sweet Zira a new, happy take on life after you adopted her. I'm sure she's smiling at you from the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. Blessings to you for your kindness and love.

  7. Can you believe the difference in weather since yesterday? Phill thought I was joking when I told him it was flurries out this morning hehe.

So sad about Dr. Zira! It's never easy losing a "family member"...even the furry ones :(

  8. Thanks so much for letting us know about Zira. I knew she was sick, but didn't know she had passed. Also, completely forgot this weekend was spring ahead - my mom needs lots of reminders on these things!

  9. Sorry you didn't hear me last night....I was trying to howl with a bone in my mouth....was just "too" good to put down.... You got a great pic of the Full Worm Moon. Looks like Mr. Winter decided to give the robins their worms on ice....ha ha! Hope you have a FUNTASTIC weekend, my friends! Hey -- you do great art work on the floors with that mud....keep up the good work! So sad about Dr. Zira....but she is running happily at the Rainbow Bridge now -- however, her family is in our thoughts and prayers....so sad for them....

  17. The weather sure is see-sawing! Last night, it was pouring rain, and then when we were at diner, it started to snow....and now it's sunny again, but COLD.

  26. Ugh! I'm so jealous. Last week, we experienced the hottest temperature ever recorded which was 42 degrees celsius. And you guys are having snow?!?

LOL. I'll clean the mud any day, if I had a chance to experience such a cold weather. ^_^

  27. We've never heard the worm thing. Maybe it's different in your neck of the woods but we have a robin that lives in the garden all year. He's really pretty tame. In the summer he sits on the lawnmower handles when Mum walks away to empty the grass bag! Deccy x

  28. We had sleet day before yesterday - in the midst of a week of 60 and 70 degree temps. Mother Nature has some explaining to do!

  32. Look at all that wonderful snow that you have!

I'm sorry for the loss of Dr. Zira. How sad.

  35. Great shot of the moon! Brrr...winter for sure from the looks of it! We are so waiting for spring here in Nova Scotia....to stay for good!

  36. I was so sad to hear of Zira's passing. My heart goes out to all of them...it hurts so lose our furbabies.

What crazy weather you are having...rain, sun, snow and mud to bring inside. Oh boy...lots of clean up fun. Right.

Your moon photo was great! I tried to take photos too and I wish my lens could go farther. I did better than the last time so I must be learning from my mistakes.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I didn't realize you were in Ontario too! Spring's coming! I just know it!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'd love to wake up to some snow!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm jealous of the snow!! But spring is definitely in the air and seeing and feeling its signs make me now want the snow as much...

I hope you all are doing well, and enjoying your weekend, snow or not!! :-)

  40. I have spray on dirt repellant for my dogs. Between that and the mats, I rarely have mud in my house :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wow, the snow seems reluctant to leave your location. Over here we have had Spring sunshine and much warmer climes and still waiting for snow.

I love Fred and Gloria's expression on muddy paws - I guess the mop is always on standby.

  42. Hello there!! Me and my cat Charlie just popped over to see the wonderful full moon with you gorgeous hounds! What a beautiful shot - well done bassetmomma!

Hopefully spring will definitely be here in the next few days! Yay!

  43. I don't know if you've heard, but Remington has a bad case of the sickies & needs some power of the paw.

Your weather is like ours here in Michigan. We have a saying, If you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes & it will change, lol!

  45. I cannot believe y'all are still getting so much snow!!!! AHH. We had a bit of a catastrophe with Spring forward today. The humans forgot about it and woke up late which means I was fed late. YES, you can imagine the looks I was giving them all morning!
