Okay, what is it with kleenexes that fascinate Fred so much? I mean honestly, it drives me nuts. The thing is there are always kleenexes around our house as we have allergies and lots of runny noses. Freddie has stole my housecoat before and rooted through the pockets for kleenex but now he's taken to trying to go through the pockets while I'm still wearing it. These next pictures were taken yesterday morning.
At first I thought he was trying to cuddle as every morning when I sit and have my coffee Freddie comes and lays on my lap.
It didn't take me long to figure out he was trying to get into the pocket of my housecoat.
By the time I pulled his head out, he'd got it........the dreaded kleenex.
Which of course I knew he was going to shred. But the worst part was now he's actually started eating them. He used to shred them and spit them out, but now he actually swallows them! Yuk!
Gloria wakes up and try to see what Freddie's got this time. People ask where Gloria is during Freddie's shenanigans. Ninety percent of the time, sleeping. As soon as I run the bath water for a bath, Gloria looks in on me and then promptly goes into our bed. I think she like having it all to herself. In the morning when I have my coffee, she usually lays at my feet and sleeps or she cons Fred out of the big chair which is why he winds up on my lap. So most of the time while Freddie's getting into trouble, Gloria takes that opportunity to get the prime sleeping spots without getting bothered.
One thing about Gloria, she's getting a lot of use out of the stools we have put around the furniture to help them up and down.
Freddie on your lap? :-) he really is his momma's boy.
ReplyDeleteGiven that cats or dogs love the smell of shoes or socks because of the saline smell in them, could there be something similar on kleenex?
Have all a good day
Hi,
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny! Freddie is not alone in this puppy naughtiness!! My pug does the same, if he can steal it apparently it tastes better! Maybe a boy dog thing?
Ivan
Go Gloria!!!! You're a clever girl.
ReplyDeleteWe shred tissues if they are on the floor. We do not go looking for them.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
Just shows who the smarter one is. Girls Rule, Boys Drool... and Eat Kleenex. ^^
ReplyDeleteHuggies and Cheese,
Haopee
Yikes Fred, don't eat the kleenex, they will make your tummy poorly like those super-models who snack on them all day long. They are both so funny and adorable with their different little ruses :)
ReplyDeleteLynne x
Our big guy Norbert loves to eat kleenexs too, but I think Weasley is worst he likes plastic bags
ReplyDeleteurban hounds
Oh Freddie has a tissue fetish? I use to chew toilet roll but never ate them. Hope Freddie is well. Have a lovely Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Won't that just add some fiber to Freddies diet? Just sayin!
ReplyDeleteLovies, Miss Mindy
Rudy loves kleenex, too. Thankfully, he's a true retriever - no shredding. He just carries them around. Frequently find them in his bed! Ditto pieces of paper. I really laughed at Gloria. She's no dummy! She knows how to get those primo napping spots!
ReplyDeleteI like to get kleenex out of the bathroom garbage cans. Mom has one in every bathroom but she can't use them because I go in when she is not around and take out any paper and shred it on the floor. I don't know why I am compelled to do that but I just am :)
ReplyDeleteGloria knows that a beauty sleep is important!
ReplyDeleteFreddie is one smart doggie to know where you keep the precious Kleenex. :) Gloria is a smartie too because she knows when and how to get the best sleeping spots to herself. :)
ReplyDeleteOur first dog had a thing for kleenex too. He liked to take one out of the box and rip it up everyday. I never understood why! Good luck getting the kleenex into the garbage! Hailey and Zaphod's lady
ReplyDeleteYou had me roaring with laughter over your thinking Freddie was snugglin' when what he was really after was what was in your robe pocket. I feel your pain. Many times have I thought the houndies were being sweet or cute, only to discover their real motivation...usually neither sweet nor cute.
ReplyDeletegracie is our kleenex hound--she always tries to get one from the bathroom trash after her breakfast!! ick!!
ReplyDeleteThose pickpocket dogs crack me up! At least it's just tissue, and it digests pretty easy!
ReplyDeleteMaybe he has a paper deficiency in his diet. I love Glorias face, so innocent looking.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried those....thanks for the tip, my friend!
ReplyDeleteOur new puppy Millie is a tissue/toilet paper thief. The trash cans are now in the bath tubs or on counters and the toilet paper is out of reach too. We caught her a few times grabbing the toilet paper and running down the hall with it!
ReplyDeleteCindy
Hey Freddie!
ReplyDeleteWow, I can totally relate! I love tissues just as much as you. I like to sneak around at night and find them in the trash...then it's shred, shred, shred all over the rugs! Woohoooo that's fun. We understand even if the peeps don't. BOL
Grr and Woof,
Sarge, COP
Oh Freddie and Gloria you two just CRACK ME UP.
ReplyDeleteSo so cute! Finn likes to walk around with paper towels in her mouth, so it must be the paperish feeling. Have a great monday!
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy a good tissue munching session when the occasion arises - I (Wally) think it has to do with the melting texture when it hits your tongue...just delicious! *BOL*
ReplyDeleteI do not find this gross at all. My MOM does but I love the kleenexes too and yes I eat them!! Better eat them then to shred them and have MOM clean them up, that's what I say.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Hey Freddie,
ReplyDeleteDid you have the sneezes too? Tee Hee - You sure know all your Mum's secret hiding places for those tissues!! I like to steal tissues too, but only when I need some attention - I grab a whole load of them, then run around with them so Mum can see me!! :)
Gloria sure is missing all the fun!!
I'm not sure you should eat them buddy, you never know where they've been!! :)
Have fun,
Your pal Snoopy :)
Oh Freddie...I think you and my new puppy sissy, Shelby, should get together. Her eats Kleenex too!
ReplyDeleteWe heard a lot of doggies like Kleenex but we don't cause they get stuck in our mouth. Freddie you are silly.
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
Love Gloria's facve as she checks out Freddie's kleenex find.
ReplyDeleteMonty does the same thing. He stalks Kleenexes. We've even known him to case one out for hours trying to figure out how to steal it. They are like doggy crack for him! :D
ReplyDeleteSam
Well, we all have our quirks and addictions :)
ReplyDeleteDon't underestimate Gloria! She is one smart cookie! While Freddie is up to no good she benefits!
ReplyDeleteFreddie is like Dakota...Dakota does the SAME THING but with paper towels lol. I ALWAYS have paper towels in pockets, etc. OMD Dakota and Freddie should get-together. They would be INSTANT friends!
BOL he's got a tissue fetish!
ReplyDeleteNola
Woof! Woof! Can't resist the best softest tissues. Happy MM. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeletehaha oh Freddie! Those soft Kleenexes are for for your nose! Not your mouth :) And LOL at Gloria! That just cracks me up :)
ReplyDeleteAah - there is nothing like a Kleenex! My dog Shadow was obsessed with them too and would also steal them out of my pockets! I offered to take her to "KA - Kleenex Anonymous" but she wouldn't admit she had a problem. I'm guessing Freddie sees it the same way! ;)
ReplyDeleteFred, youz are a dog after me own heart..Tissue's..I haz OCD wiff tissues..BOL Give Gloria a big hug from us xx00xxx
ReplyDeleteMollie and Alfie
Basset Momma, you could have been describing our house to a T. Stella is the tissue thief. She will find them everywhere and has ALWAYS eaten them if we don't find her first! We have boxes of tissues all over the house because we have allegies too. A funny story with our angel Brucey. He would take the box of tissues from the bench and sit with it between his paws and pull out every single tissue, not eating it, just pulling them out. Once I found him (after I had a shower) and he had a box of 275 all pulled out on the floor. I had to laugh. Thanks for the photos and laugh this morning. Nice to know there is another 'tissue addict' out there hehe. No worries, and love, Carol (and Stella and Rory)
ReplyDeleteKleenex is just fun! We have steps by the side of the bed. I use them but Stanley jumps even though mom told him not to.
ReplyDeleteYour friends,
Murphy & Stanley
Oh Kleenex! The worst is when it comes out the other end, but not enough, you you have to give a little tug. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteHehe, I love Freddie's thievery!! I'm a huge Kleenex fan too; when I see them, I must destroy them!! I break them into itty bitty pieces and then go scatter them throughout the house! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like Freddie has a little bit of a Kleenex fetish! At least it's not a rock fetish like Leroy!
ReplyDeleteHey Fred, Hey Gloria, Jet here. Hi Miss Janet.
ReplyDeleteReminds us of the Bud-man! He shredded up all paper items (we won't go into detail, you can imagine...) when he slept over. Must be in their gene pool!
Dude, swallowing the tissues? Ewww, you can do better! Ask for a croissant!
Obviously, Gloria smartly opts for beauty rest! :)
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI adore basset hounds for many reasons and one of them is their ability to look adorable and huggable while doing some crazy things. I could just picture Gloria watching Fred eat tissues and then think to herself that he is immature or silly or both. The picture of her watching him made me laugh! I don't understand Fred's obsession with tissues but he sure does look cute while chewing them, right?
I don't know, but our dogs do it too! So gross! :) Gloria is one slick girl, catching all the hot sleeping spots when Fred isn't looking.
ReplyDeleteAh, Freddie's nose in your pocket. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteKeep on wagging,
love,
Tootsie
Hahaha...that is actually so cute and adorable!! way to go Fred :)
ReplyDeleteMy Patches, who's ten, does the same thing! She licks them, holding them daintily between her front paws.I find them all over the house when someone has a cold. What the heck?!
ReplyDeleteHaha! You're a little thief, Fred! ;P
ReplyDeleteLOL, Gloria looks very comfortable in that last picture, haha!
