Whew! Blood work is good! I was so relieved when the vet called us yesterday with Freddie's blood test results and said everything looked really good even his thyroid. How did Freddie wind up at the vets Tuesday? Well, Monday night I was up most of the night with him. He started around 10 p.m. shaking and drooling like crazy. He was listless and couldn't walk very well. I panicked thinking these were the same signs that our late basset Barney had when he had his seizures. This wasn't quite the same, but of course I panicked anyways. I laid on the floor with him until he finally made his way to our bedroom around 4 a.m. We covered him in blankets to try and stop his shaking. In the morning when he was still shaking and wouldn't eat, I called the vet when they opened. They checked him over thoroughly and found nothing, but wanted to do blood work to be sure it wasn't something else. In the end, they figure Freddie was just in a lot of pain with his hips and knees as a lot of dogs will shake when they are in a lot of pain. With the change in air pressure, wind and rain we got from Sandy (nothing like our friends in the eastern U.S.) he was just plain sore! I felt so bad as I should have given him a Deramaxx, but I just didn't know 'cause usually Mr. Dramatica is very vocal and moans a lot when he's achy. He seems fine now that the weather has died down and he is eating again! I am glad we had his blood done though as it's just a relief to know everything else is okay. While he was there we had them check his "rusty" spots. They agree it is some sort of reaction. Could be the glucosamine but unlikely. More than likely food. So we will be trying a grain free diet. If that clears it up then I will put him back on the glucosamine. We give him the liquid formula.
Now besides the good news on Halloween about Freddie's tests, Gloria and him got a package in the mail from our friends Marsie and Nosey. All the way from Kentucky!
It didn't take Fred and Gloria long to tear into it either.
Will you look at that! Dog treats a basset card with a lovely note inside, a beautiful picture of Nosey and a split heart charm. See what it says? Partners in Crime! Fred and Gloria each get to wear half on their collars since they really are "partners in crime!" lol
Look at those treats. They are special ones for hip and joint support! How thoughtful is that?
Freddie Spaghetti just loved them and didn't believe they were also good for him
And Gobble Guts......well she could have eaten the whole bag!!
We even got a couple of Marsie's business cards. You can check her out here.
Thank you so much Marsie and Nosey! How great that those treats came right on Halloween!
Not only are Marsie and Nosey great friends but they're famous too! They were on Fox19 where Marsie talked about how to have fun with your pets on Halloween and made pumpkin dog treats that Nosey was waiting to sample in her adorable bumble bee costume!! You can check it out here.
Now for Freddie's plug. I've entered three of Freddie's pictures in the Purina "Wonderfur Winter's Gift Pack Contest" and would like everyone to please go and vote. You can do it here. Just type Freddie into the search box and his pictures will come up. You can vote on all three if you want! Thanks.
P.S. - I probably won't be around until next week as I am going in tomorrow for a bit of surgery. But don't worry it's just day surgery so I will be home laying around all weekend eating bonbons! lol Have a great weekend everyone!!
SOOOOO happy to hear that Freddie blood work came back good!!! How cool is that you got a present in the mail on Halloween!! Hope you all had a Happy Halloween!! xoxo Chloe and LadyBug

So glad Freddie's tests were good! You must have had a looong night worrying.
ReplyDeleteOh how scary about Freddie. Of course those things always happen when the vet is closed. I am glad that it seems to have resolved and that the blood work came back normal. Guess you will know if it happens again, but I doubt you will be any less scared. You know how that goes...
ReplyDeleteGot our votes in for Freddie...good luck.
Hope all goes well with the surgery. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.

Thank goodness for good news, Freddie. We all need good news.
ReplyDeleteGlad Freddie is OK, but sorry he was so sore. I can attest to the extra aches and pains from the storm. My arthritis definitely flared up!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I voted for Freddie!
Very happy Freddie's blood work was good, hope you heal very quickly too!
ReplyDeleteIvan
That sounds like a rough night for all of you. So glad to hear that the blood work was good!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice surprise to get in the mail. Rita loves Zukes!
that is good news that freddie is okay and what a wonderful package they got. Just check if the treats have Glucosamine in them - be careful not to double up on his dosage. Good luck with the surgery
ReplyDeleteOh, that is indeed good news!! It's too bad Freddie had such a bad night, butts, I'm sure glad it was somethin' fixable! Those treaties should help!
ReplyDeleteHealin' thoughts comin' your way too for your surgery! Eat some bonbons for my Ma, too!
Kisses,
Ruby
So glad to hear the good news on Freddie's test! And that it was technically nothing serious. So glad he had you to hold on to.
ReplyDeleteOh, no. I am sorry to hear Freddie is not feeling well. Hopefully the Zuke's Hip Action will cheer him up. Chester loves them and they have one of the highest concentrations of glucosamine among similar treats.
ReplyDeleteWow, so much in this post! Firstly, we are glad Freddie is better. Mom used to have a dog a long time ago and his name was Leroy. Anyway, in 14 years Leroy only had 1 seizure and it was the same night as there was a tornado that touched down. The vets could find no reason for the seizure and said the same thing about change in air pressure, etc. So she thinks that is about right with Freddie. So sweet that Freddie and Gloria received the pressies!! Also, we will cross our paws that your surgery goes well and you get lots and lots of bon-bons!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
Hi Y'all!
ReplyDeleteSo glad Freddie is as okay as possible. Hip pain is the worst.
BOL! Gloria, "Gobble Guts" is not the delicate name a beautiful lady like you should entertain! I'd do something to correct that "name calling", if I were you.
So glad y'all survived the storm okay.
We have your Momma in our prayers. Y'all stop by and read Friday's post while your Momma recuperates over the weekend. ;)
Y'all come back now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
We had just typed in a long reply when Nin came to help.
ReplyDeleteWe are glad Freddie is ok and we voted for him.
We hope your surgeon has a good day tomorrow. When our Lady had day surgery once and people were wishing her luck, the surgeon said he thought maybe they should be wishing him luck! So BOL to both of you!
Lee and Phod
Thank goodness for good news. There sure are good friends in Blogville

Sending speedy recovery Jetty kisses and JJ hugs to you Miss Janet. xoxoxox
I'm superglad that Freddie is okay!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I didn't want you to think I forgot you. I'm just lazy, and there was some weather. Your book went out yesterday, so maybe you'll get it in time to read with your bonbons! I was going to put Freddie and Gloria's names on the box, but had already liberally applied tape by the time I remembered. I hope they don't mind!
HOwdy All, so glad Freddie is ok. It must have been scarey for sure. What wonderful friends to send you a pressie and especially the treats to help with Freddie's hips. Hope you are ok Momma. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

I'm off to vote for you now :)
Your pal Snoopy :)
I hope you are doing ok this week!
ReplyDeleteGosh - that is really scary with all the shaking. Poor fella! Gosh, that reminds me of when my Copper had such bad pain with his hips - he'd sometimes get "stuck" in the middle of the dog door and I'd have to help him. Take care of Freddie and hopefully with the weather passing he'll be a whole lot better. He's blessed to have you looking out for him and willing to sleep on the floor and comfort him! :)
Freddie I am so happy to hear your tests came back GREAT! YAY! :D
ReplyDeleteSorry the storm made your bones ache :( Hope the change in diet will fix ya up before the next storm comes through :)
What a fantastic package you and Gloria got! Wowzers! That Marsie is a pretty cool gal :)
Waggin at ya,

Sweet Wi;;iam The Scot
How exciting! A package from friends! And surgery? Bonbons? Can you just eat the bonbons without having the surgery? That would be the best option, right?
ReplyDeleteGlad Freddie's bloodwork was okay! I voted...Go Freddie!!! Hope everything goes okay with your surgery. Enjoy the bonbons!
ReplyDeletePS: We have something for you over at our blog. It is under wordless Wednesday! http://kten-haileychronicles.blogspot.ca/ Lee and Phod
ReplyDeleteOh poor Freddie. And poor you! I'm glad everybody's feeling better but you must have been so scared. :(
ReplyDeleteBella definitely showed signs of the pressure system changes as well - limping more and being over all kind of mellow and subdued. I'm glad it was nothing more serious for Freddie.
(And just because I seem to be commenting on all of Freddie's stuff today - Hi Gloria! Smoochies to you too , beautiful girl!)
