And steal one of his Dad's "special" socks.
His Dad was not impressed. I on the other hand turned my head to this heinous crime. teehee!
Note: Freddie's itching is a bit better and he is sleeping through the night (whew!) But I had to take him to the vets last Thursday because his one hip is clunking all the time now. The vet definitely felt a divot in his hip where the cartilage is gone and has started him on Glucosamine HCL which he will have to be on for the rest of his life. We also had to switch him to a low calorie diet and he is restricted to no playing (ya right) just getting exercise on a lead right now. I was pretty upset at the end of last week as he is just so young having turned two this year. Today I will have Fred at the vets having x-rays done to see just how bad things are. Wish us luck!
That's no good....the hip, not the sock.

ReplyDeleteGood luck today. Please keep us posted.
I wish you all the best Freddie, my paws are crossed!!!
ReplyDeleteOh no Freddie! I'm so sorry to hear about your hip. We're keeping our fingers crossed that your x-rays show minimal problems and that you'll be romping around again soon. For now, though, take it easy and enjoy some R&R! :D
ReplyDeleteGlad your itching is better though! :)
Paws crossed for dear Freddie. I know Glucosamine has done wonders for me. Good job "communicating" with the sock, Freddie.

ReplyDeleteIt is tough - Denny is only one year old and had arthritis in his front leg - it's just not fair especially when all they want to do is play when they are young.

Only 2 and needs Glucosomine? Poor Freddy :(
ReplyDeleteAt least he feels well enough to steal socks!
Janet, We hope everything turns out good. Poor Freddy, and you too. I don't know if you have decided that the allergies are food related, but I reviewed our new food today that is supposed to be great for dogs with allergies. These guys don't have allergies, but lots of other dogs do that like this food too.
ReplyDeleteGood job. Next time hide it
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
Our paws are crossed for Fred, too.

OH Janet, I feel your pain concerning Freddie. I gotta tell ya after getting Schatzie's diagnosis of arthritis in the left hip at 5, vet said it was the worse case she'd seen in a dog Schatzie's age. Anyhow, we put Schatzie on canine adequan shots(she got 2 shots a week for 4 weeks and now we give 1 shot every 4-6 wks. We changed her food. At first she was on 4 cups of Science Diet JD per day. The food is suppose to have extra hip and joint supplements. We have since changed to Blue Buffalo for large dogs and it too has the extra supplements that Science Diet with less cost and the best part is Schatzie LOVES IT. She is a picky eater!! Lastly, we give yet another supplement of Cosequin Plus tablets.
ReplyDeleteSince these changes Schatzie is not showing any signs of pain and runs around like a crazy shepherd.
Gracie is experiencing some symptoms right now with her hips and I am going to visit with our vet and get Gracie started on this same regiment.
We do have Previcox to give Schatzie for pain...so far we haven't needed to administer it. :)
Hugs to you and Freddie!!
(((((hugs))))) to you...we would be beside ourselves. You are right, Freddie is way too young for all of this to be happening. We are praying that when you return from the vet that you have some good news!

So sorry to hear that, I hope the x-rays will provide some good news. Glad the itchies are getting better.
ReplyDeleteFreddie, you keep getting those socks. After all you are a hunter dog. You have to hunt the birds! BOL!

Oh Freddie,
ReplyDeleteI'm sending you big hugs buddy - I hope you got some better news at the Vets today!!
I'm glad to see your keeping your spirits up with a little Mischief - Way to go Dude!! Tee Hee
Your pal Snoopy :)
We are wishing you luck. I hope that you have good news. Our R had a divot out of his elbow cartilage when he was 1 year old. He had surgery, which was successful. Now he gets a glucosamine injection every month and takes tons and tons of fish oil every day. He's 4 going on 5 and is incredibly active. I hope that things work out just as well for Freddie.
ReplyDeleteOh - poor Fred!! Sending big hugs - I'm glad to hear that his itching is better. (and can totally understand why he chewed up that Seahawks sock!!)
ReplyDeleteSounds like someone is still up to mischief even when the itching is doing a lot of mischief on him.
ReplyDeleteWell, Freddie, no matter how mad your daddy will be, you're still adorable... I bet he let it pass THIS time (and every other time, for that matter).
By the way, could I ask some help in promoting the "Follow the Dog Home" book giveaway I have? I am hoping to reach more of our bloggy friends and was hoping you could help me in informing them that I have one on my page. I would really appreciate this.
Thanks in advance.
Huggies and Cheese,
Haopee
That is so unfair! :-(
