Christmas Ornament #9

One of our favorite Christmas movies is "A Christmas Story".  We actually own it on Blu-ray now so we will never miss it.  My husbands favorite part is when the father wins a big prize from a crossword puzzle contest.
It is of course the "leg lamp".

I bought this ornament of the lamp for my husband about ten years ago.

  2. Oh yes it is a Christmas must see. Some station around here plays it for 24 hours straight on Christmas day. No chance of missing it. It's a classic. My favorite part is when the dogs get the turkey. Yummmmm.

  12. that is also one of my favorite movies (I have seen it over 30 times!) LOVE THAT ORNAMENT!
The movie was filmed in Cleveland and it was filmed when I was living there. You know the scene outside the storefront downtown? (Right before they visit Santa?) That is where I waited for the bus to go to work EVERY morning.
They filmed that at around 2am.....they kept the storefront decorated from the movie the entire winter season that year :)

  21. You know, that was my Dad's favorite movie. Growing up, we watched it every year at Christmas as a family. When my Dad passed away, it was too sad to watch it without him. It's still one of my favorite movies though.

  23. When my mom was young, about 87 years ago, she was born and raised in northern Indiana (where movie is set). She says that movie is exactly what it was like then!! She even had a neighborhood enemy that they had regular wars with. We like it too of course!

  24. I have a smaller version of that ornament on my tree at the cabin...teehee. We went and saw the musical last year when it came through town on its way to Broadway (very good by the way) and I bought a leg lamp night light at the theater. :)
