Kleenex Thief

Fred will do anything to steal a kleenex.  I don't know if it's because he can't get at the toilet paper roll anymore or what! He'll counter surf for kleenexes and even try to steal them out of your hand. Lately he's learned that I keep them in pockets so he can't get at them......or so I thought!
Yesterday he stole my housecoat from our bedroom and went and hid in the bathroom with it.

"What?" "I was just bringing it to you!"
"But I'm not in the bathroom Freddie."

Then a couple of minutes later.........

He's routing through the pockets for kleenexes.  Basset hounds have a reputation for not being really smart.  Believe me they are smart but very stubborn and Freddie.....he's one smart cookie!

  1. We have the same issue with Norbert, he loves eating kleenexes and napkins. He will pretend to snuggle up and then he pulls a kleenex out of your pocket.

  4. Oh boy! Finn went through the toilet paper phase. I thought I was going to kill her. Luckily we're past that. I love that look you are giving!

  5. Well we have a picket pocket in our house. Cleo was the worst but Amiee has this habit as well. She can still a wallet out of my husbands back pocket when he leaves them lay out. You can not even tell she touched them jeans. She took 10 $100 bills out to the back yard one day while he was in the shower. Them hounds are smarter than you think, they just like to fool us. 8. Oh my goodness! I could never have a Basset ... one look at that adorable sad-eyed face and I would give them anything they wanted! Fred is too cute. My mom's Bichon has a Kleenex fetish also!

  9. Haha, we don't steal kleenex, but we stole 3 potatoes today! Our mom took them, and we kept on stealing them. We once stole a piece of summer sausage out of our grandmother's pocket, it was wrapped in plastic and she was going to take it to work. We had other plans for it though...

  18. I don't care much for Kleenex but cat food - that's another story. I steal all of it I can get.

  19. Looks like Fred likes to burrow...like me :)

  20. My basset always liked to play with toilet paper, and Lucy has carried on the tradition. Every time I go into the bathroom, the whole role of tp is on the floor and I always know who to blame! Lucy loves to sleep on my pj's or my bathrobe, if I could only get her to bring them to me when I need them, I would be in Heaven!

  29. LOL - I think people who put those "smart" lists together really mean "obedient", not necessarily "smart". (Okay, aside from Border Collies who are both...) Anyway, I like the mischief makers, the dogs who figure things out for themselves, that's what I call smart. You show 'em, Freddie. ;)

  30. Ido that a lot, too. Classic me story!

  31. Hahaha! Oh Freddie! He is one smart dog and hilarious, too!

  32. Hi Y'all,

I used to like tissues too. Then the Humans started keeping them on top of the fridge and in the bathroom and keeping the bathroom door closed. They also sprayed all the trashcans with pepper spray.

I'm more mature now and leave that stuff alone.

    Y'all come back now,

  35. Ohhhhhhhhhhh! How true! What IS it with Kleenex and paper towels. With Willie it's ANY Kleenex. With our previous poodles, Pearl and Peyton, it was only the used ones. YUCK! Thanks for stopping by during the Pet Blog Hop!

  36. LOL! I love Bassets. They are some of the greatest and most expressive dogs around. We have two girls at the dog park, Abby and Lanie, and I adore both of them. Who knew they were Kleenex thieves??? :)
