Christmas Eve we had one of our family gatherings.  I spent all morning preparing the food.   Fred and Gloria were right in there helping.   We all had a big night ahead of us.

Don't you just love my candy cane striped lounge pants!

Once the food was done and the house was cleaned I tried to shine up the hounds a bit. They had a busy meet and greet coming up and I wanted them to look their best.

After their big night of entertaining they both tried to curl on my lap.

Which was good because Santa would soon be coming. By the look of them, you'd think they got into to the ole punch bowl!

Santa didn't disappoint and brought them some squeaky toys and chew bones.

Gloria even attempted to play with her toy (this is a rare event).  She was doing good until it squeaked.  Then she ran and hid by me.

Fred was still too tired to even stand, so he just laid on the floor and chewed on his toys.  I think he kept squeaking his on purpose just to scare poor Gloria!

Awwwe.......look how enthusiastic he is!

So now that the hounds had  new toys and  more messy chew bones everything was good.  Especially since my daughter and her husband got us this bad baby for Christmas!

This will make life so much easier when it comes to cleaning up after two messy basset hounds! Not that I look forward to a mess, but I can't wait to try it out.  Today we have our kids and grandkids for boxing day dinner as we just do presents and brunch on Christmas.  So throw two hounds into the mix and I'm sure there will be a mess by the end of the day.  Then I will get to try our new Bissell Little Green!

  1. Sounds like a great Christmas Eve and Christmas. That picture of Fred and Gloria on the couch with you had me chuckling. Now those are two tired hounds! Super sweet!

  2. What a great Christmas! I am sometimes scared of squeaky toys, too, Gloria.

    Your pal, Pip

  3. Love the couch pic. I love to lounge on my MOM. I also just rip the squeeker out right away in my stuffies. MOM is feeling a bit better so I might open another gift today, or two.

  4. Looks like a very fun Christmas! And yes, I do rather love your lounge pants...I believe in lounge pants.

  5. Looks like you two hounds got some great pressies too! If I take my big bone off the blanket, My Mom might have to shampoo our carpet too! BOL, I am being real good about that!
    Lovies, Miss Mindy

  6. I spay all my squeakers it drives Mom made. She'd like to know how you like the Bissell
    Dachshund Nola

  7. What a great Christmas you had. Looks like you also got pretty tired from the whole thing. Hope you got plenty of rest and Gloria, just be patient, Fred will make that thing squeek until it dies, then you won't have to listen to it any more.

  8. I'm excited for the "bad baby" to finally get in action.

Your basset hounds look wonderful. Happy Holidays.

    Huggies and Cheese,

  9. Merry Christmas to you! Sounds like nice family time. We have that green machine. It will come in handy for a puppy! Your hounds got some great loot! (2 brown dawgs are a bit jealous :))

  10. OMD Fred cracks me up with his toys. AHAHAHA Haylie hits the doggie gate with her paw cause she knows it scares fred - I swear she does it just to annoy him.

Looks like a fantastic time - adorable pic with your and the duo on the couch!

  11. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas - it looks pretty fun! :)

  12. We love the Bassets doing their lap dog imitation.

  13. What a great Christmas! And Gloria handled it like a pro. Fred was such a good boy! I can't wait until you try out the Bissell!

  14. Looks like a fun Chritsmas for Fred and Gloria! And I hope your new toy works well too!
